this takes place while Princess Celestia and Luna lived in the castle of 2 sisters! yes it's in the past XD
and after TerrorTale is defeated and banished into the shadows. Luna gains her full power potential but still morns for her lost and forgotten mentor

Quick story if u guys have absolutely no idea whats this is about here:
I just haven't explained everything yet. SweetDreams was a mentor to Luna teaching her how to control her magic (because Celestia was to busy with royal duties to help her little sis) But SweetDream's fears consumed her and turned her into the Monster TerrorTale. Celestia and luna confronted her and used the Elements form the tree of Harmony (the elements were not named yet) to stop her and banish her into the shadows. afterwords Celestia goes to her subject t calm them down but luna goes home to morn her mother/sister figure that she just lost.
after all this, the song signifies Luna's feelings of loneliness and how she wishes the her mentor was still with her. the only pony who understood her and the only one to teach her. in the song it states that she's loosing her sanity… this story is a precursor before NightMare moon.
